The Impact Learning Center is based on the belief that every child has individual strengths and weaknesses. We all learn in different ways. Our goal at Impact Learning Center is to help students recognize how they learn. Students who understand how they learn, can play to their strengths by using techniques and tools that enable them to succeed!
Evelyn MacLean
Evelyn MacLean is a long-time advocate of children and a licensed teacher in the State of Oregon. Evelyn has been working with children for 18 years. As a teacher who has worked in the public schools, she understands the need to tailor learning opportunities to best fit each child. She is an accomplished artist and crafts person. She has used many mediums both in her professional art, but also as an educator to reach children and encourage their expression and creativity.
Evelyn has a BA in Psychology from Sacramento State, a Teaching certification from University of Maine, an ESL endorsement from Portland State University, and will be receiving her Masters in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, from Portland State University in the coming year.
Megan Durst
This will be Megan's 2nd year working in the Oregon Trail School District as an ESL instructor, and is currently working as the ESL instructor for both Kelso Elementary and Cotrell Elementary. Megan studied Spanish in Argentina and Spain, received her BA in Spanish from Oregon State University, and her MA in Teaching and ESL Endorsement from Portland State University. She will lead Spanish lessons on Tuesdays at Impact Learning Center from 5:00 - 6:00.
Tim Hicks
Tim has been playing guitar for over 20 years. During his time playing, he has studied at the Atlanta Institute of Music in Atlanta, GA. He received his degree in Recording Science from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. He has played on stage with numerous bands, most recently with the alternative rock band, The Marta Complex. Tim loves teaching guitar. His students have ranged from beginning to advanced players, both acoustic and electric. Tim is available for beginning guitar lessons and private lessons through the Impact Learning Center.
Note: All instructors of the Impact Learning Center have had complete background checks. Ms. MacLean and Miss Durst are licensed by the State of Oregon and are certified Elementary School Teachers.
